PGA Leadership Impressed With Oak Hill Restoration For Next Year’s Major

PITTSFORD, NY (WHEC) – We’re a little under a year away from major golf returning to Rochester. It’ll be the first time the PGA Championship pays a visit to Oak Hill since the east course was restored, which isn’t a first for the PGA of America.

This past year, Southern Hills in Tulsa Oklahoma hosted, marking the first time they held an event there since that course had undergone changes. It seems to be the trend based on modern technology and the desire clubs have to keep up with game. Oak Hill is no exception, one of a few reasons why the PGA brass is excited to show it to the world next year.

"It’s outstanding," said PGA of America Chief Championship Officer Kerry Haigh. "I really, really love it. It’s going to provide some different challenges to the best players in the world. But as always, Jeff Corcoran and his team are doing an unbelievable job in preparing it. It has a number now of five or six roll outs of the Greens, which gives a different shot type than has ever been the case at Oak Hill. And, you know, some new teams have been added and the conditioning is just outstanding. So I could not be more excited about what we’ve seen and and getting ready for next May."
