Community and faith leaders call for end to Rochester’s gun violence

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Community members gathered at the North Winton Village Association on Wednesday to express frustration over a rise in gun violence in Rochester.

A group of community groups, business owners, and people who live in the city called the meeting. They said crime is on the rise and it’s spreading.

The message the groups are sending: they’ve had enough, and they want the city to do more. The group told us there will be more meetings. They also plan to take their concerns to Rochester City Hall.

At 3 p.m. on Thursday, pastors and clergy groups will also call for action to stop the violence.

Pastors on Point, Faith Leaders Round Table, Faith Alliance, and Baptist Ministers will gather at the Public Safety Building.

They’ll be advocating for what they call common sense solutions to promote safety and quality of life.
