ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The 59-year-old man hit by a City of Rochester garbage truck while walking at the corner of St. Paul and Bausch streets has died.
Rochester Police say the man died on Monday, Oct. 2 after being hospitalized in critical condition. He was struck the week earlier, on Sept. 26 around 11:15 a.m., and rushed to Strong Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
RPD investigators say the man was crossing the street in the cross walk and the truck struck him while making a turn. The driver was issued a citation for failing to yield the right of way. The driver is suspended pending the city’s completion of a personnel review.
