Business owner found dead in her Gates work parking lot

GATES, N.Y. – A woman was found dead Saturday and police say her death is a homicide. She was found off Pixley Road in Gates.

Gates Police Chief Rob Long says officers responded at 5 p.m. Saturday after 911 calls came in for a body in a parking lot at 12 Pixley Industrial Parkway.

“Upon arrival, our officers did find a deceased 47-year-old resident of Rochester, Jessica Romich,” Long said.

She was the owner of EverDry Waterproofing, which is located behind where she was found dead.

Long says she had been shot and it appears she was killed in the parking lot.

Her death is being investigated as a homicide. Police say there are no suspects in custody and while the investigation is still in its early stages, Long says that his department will do everything they can to track down who is responsible.

“Unfortunately, we are still in that investigative phase and it’s a little early but we are trying to figure out if any of that will be in play. Whether it was domestic related or robbery or whatever. Not sure and I don’t want to guess at this current moment,” Long said.
