ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A cannabis industry support services open house is set for Wednesday in Rochester.

Mayor Malik Evans announced the city is partnering with the business insight center to support entrepreneurs.

“With the legalization of cannabis in New York State we want those who experienced the greatest negative consequences from the war on drugs to be among the first to benefit from the growth of this new industry,” said Mayor Evans. “One often overlooked key to running a successful business is a working knowledge of the back-office functions and the vendors who provide the support services that keep the bills paid, the lights on and the doors open. I want to thank our partners at the Business Insight Center @ Central for helping us prepare these aspiring entrepreneurs for long-term success and so we can realize our vision for a hope-filled Rochester with an exciting future.”

The open house is planned for Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County.

Those interested in entering the cannabis industry will be able to meet with accountants, lawyers, and security providers.

The event is free to attend. The Central Library is accessible to people with disabilities. To request specific accommodations, call (585) 428-8304.
