In-Depth: Vehicle theft prevention at the fore this month

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – July is Vehicle Theft Prevention Month and Monroe County’s district attorney says it comes at a time when the county is seeing a spike in those kinds of thefts.
DA Sandra Doorley says conviction numbers have grown in recent years. There were 137 in 2020, 242 convictions in 2021 and so far this year 152 convictions.
The U.S. Department of Transportation shared that a vehicle is stolen every 39 seconds in this country.
