UPDATE: RPD recovered human remains from the Genesee River 

UPDATE: The Rochester Police Department successfully recovered human remains from the Genesee River on Tuesday. They have been turned over to the Monroe County Medical Examiner for identification. Roads surrounding the area have been reopened to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police have found what appears to be a body in the Genesee River near the Inner Loop. RPD says its SCUBA team is working to verify and recover it.

Officers responded just before 11 a.m. on Tuesday after getting a report of a body in the water. News10NBC’s photojournalist saw a large first responder presence including fire trucks, police, cars, and a SCUBA team over the Inner Loop Bridge and the Andrews Street Bridge.

Both the Inner Loop Bridge and the Andrews Street Bridge are closed in both directions.
