RPD Special Victims Unit investigates assault on Hawley Street
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police are investigating the assault of a child, and at least one person has been arrested.
It happened on Hawley Street around 3 a.m. Thursday. A News10NBC crew was there while first responders were at the scene.
News10NBC’s Patrick Moussignac spent most of the day trying to get more information from the police department, but because the case involves a child, they’re tight lipped.
Officers showed up, along with an ambulance, to a Hawley Street home. Police are not disclosing the victim’s age — they’re only saying it’s a small child. The child was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital and is listed in stable condition.
News10NBC heard the call that went out over the scanner before and after first responders arrived at the home.
“Looks like there’s a three month old at the location. Mother showed a video of her choking the baby to the father,” first responders said over the scanner. “I just got off the phone with CPS. They gave me the father’s information… (inaudible)… He’s not answering his phone, but I’m going to look for an address.”
Rochester Police tell News10NBC that at least one person has been charged. The Special Victim’s Unit is handling the case.
