STAFFORD, N.Y. — A man, 74, has died after he was hit by a truck while getting his mail in Genesee County on Thursday night.

New York State Police responded around 5:20 p.m. to State Route 5 in the Town of Stafford and found James Ehmann of Stafford injured. After paramedics attempted life-saving measures, he was taken to the United Memorial Medical Center where he later died.

Investigators determined that the truck hit Ehmann while it was traveling west and entered the turn lane at Batavia-Stafford Townline Road. State Police say the the driver, 52, had no signs of impairment.
