Update: The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim of the fatal shooting as Brian S. Bizallion, 42, of the Town of Wolcott.

WAYNE COUNTY, N.Y. — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a hunter was fatally shot in the woods Saturday morning.

Police say at 7 a.m. they responded to Cotten Road, near Route 89, in the Town of Savannah. Police are not releasing the name of the man pending notification of his family.

This is an active investigation conducted by the sheriff’s office, with the assistance of the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Police.
