Jury seated in trial of man accused of setting woman on fire, killing her
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The man accused of dousing a Rochester woman in flammable liquid and lighting her on fire goes on trial Tuesday.
Fantasia Stone died inside a Jefferson Avenue apartment building last April.
Troy Parker is charged with murder and arson. Rochester Police say he set Stone on fire after an argument.
When first responders arrived, 85% of Stone’s body was burned and she was dead. RPD says she had soot in her nasal passage, trachea, and bronchi, confirming that she was breathing when the fire started. Parker pleaded not guilty at his initial arraignment.
Stone has been remembered as a loving mother of five. News10NBC spoke with Stone’s oldest daughter and her sister.
It took just one day to seat the jury.
Opening statements begin Tuesday morning.
