ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – If you have travel plans this holiday weekend, be sure to pack your patience.

AAA is predicting that more than 47 million people will be traveling at least 50 miles or more from home this Independence Day weekend.

42 million of these people will be traveling by car. This is an increase of just over 3% compared to 2021, which would bring travel close to levels last seen in 2019. Car travel is going to set a new record, despite the high gas prices.

To beat the rush, it’s recommended to plan ahead and travel during off-peak times, either early in the morning or late at night.
