NASA (WHEC) — A graduate of the University of Rochester will launch into space in September.

Josh Cassada, who earned his Ph.D. in physics from the U of R, will be a member on board the SpaceX Crew-5. The mission to the International Space Station, overseen by company SpaceX, is NASA’s fifth commercial space flight.

NASA Television is hosting a live session at 2 p.m. to learn more about the crew members and the mission. You can watch live here.

Cassada is one of five crew members and will help with a science expedition involving the microgravity laboratory. The U of R said he previously was set to take part in a mission aboard NASA’s Boeing Starliner program.
