Fire at Glenwood and Tacoma remains under investigation
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Multiple calls for a house on fire Saturday afternoon led crews to believe two homes were engulfed.
It happened in the area of Glenwood Avenue and Tacoma Street, on the city’s northwest side. That home was vacant.
“We got a significant vacant problem in the city, it’s something the city is dealing with. we’ve got a lot of support from City Hall trying to take these vacants down as fast as we can and deal with the property owners. But just being aware and reporting any vacants you see that are unsecured or people that are squatting in those vacants, just make sure to make the proper notifies,” said Deputy Chief James Hartman with the Rochester Fire Department.
Rochester firefighters say the confusion about two homes being on fire stemmed from callers being confused about their location.
The cause remains under investigation. The fire is believed to have started on the porch of the home.
