Stefon Diggs says time with the Bills was “four of the best years of my life”
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Star wide receiver Stefon Diggs took to Instagram to thank the Buffalo Bills for his four years with the team after fans learned that he is heading to the Houston Texans.
“I can’t begin to express the amount of love and respect I have for the city of Buffalo,” Diggs wrote. “Four of the best years of my life, the city welcomed me with open arms. I’m forever grateful for you all and the Buffalo Bills organization.”
News on Wednesday of Diggs’ trade sent shockwaves through one of the NFL’s most ardent fan bases. But fans needn’t worry about the front office’s decisions, General Manager Brandon Beane said, addressing reporters Wednesday in Orchard Park.
“It’s April 3. Our fan base needs to trust that we’re going to trot out a damn good football team in the fall,” he said.
In exchange for Diggs’ trade to the Texans, the Bills will get a 2025 second-round pick in the NFL draft, which starts April 25th.
The trade comes two years after Diggs signed a four-year $104 million extension, meaning the Bills will still be on the hook for $31 million, and can’t use that money for new or existing players.
Diggs came to Buffalo in 2020 after the Minnesota Vikings traded him. Since then, he and quarterback Josh Allen have developed a close bond and created some impressive offensive plays.
Last regular season, Diggs had eight touchdowns and 107 receiving yards. He had 10 receiving yards in the postseason, which ended for the Bills when they lost in the second round to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Here is Diggs’ full statement on Instagram:
“I can’t begin to express the amount of love and respect I have for the city of Buffalo. Four of the best years of my life, the city welcomed me with open arms. I’m forever grateful for you all and the Buffalo Bills organization. Something special was built over these years with some very special men, that will always have a place in my heart. Bills mafia, so many great memories created throughout the years. Those games were crazy because of you. Sadly good things come to an end until we meet again. 14.”
