Police release ID of Rochester’s 23rd homicide victim

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Rochester man is dead after a shooting on Driving Park Avenue on Sunday. Rochester police said his death marks the 23rd homicide this year.

Police responded to a report of a shooting shortly after 2 p.m. at Driving Park Avenue and Pierpont Street. When they arrived, officers found a man in his 20s with at least one gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital and immediately went into surgery. At about 7 p.m. he was pronounced dead. Police later released his identity: 28-year-old Bishop Foster of Rochester.

The Rochester Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is still investigating what led up to this shooting and no one is in custody.
