Amerks eyeing first place in North Division, taking on Toronto Marlies Wednesday night
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Amerks fans, get ready to get loud at Blue Cross Arena Wednesday night. A win would move the Amerks into sole possession of first place in the North Division standings.
The playoff-bound Amerks begin their final week of the regular season as they welcome the Toronto Marlies back to the Blue Cross Arena.
This game will impact seeding in the North Division. There are just three games left, and only four points separate the top four teams. The top three teams get a bye into the division semifinals. Rochester trails Syracuse by just one point heading into the final three games of the season.
It’s been a long climb to relevancy again but lately, there have been improvements: 2002 saw the Amerks’ first playoff series win in 17 years. Last year they made their first conference finals since 2004.
With more history on the line, Amerks Head Coach Seth Appert says groups like this don’t come around often.
“It just doesn’t happen every year that you put yourself in a spot like this where these games are meaningful,” Appert said.
Doors open at 4:50 p.m. and the game starts at 7:05 p.m. For tickets, click here.
Rochester hasn’t won a division title since 2005.
