NYSP: Undercover officer in Victor discovers murder-for-hire plot by convicted rapist and girlfriend
ONTARIO COUNTY, N.Y. — New York State Police say an undercover officer unveiled a murder-for-hire plot by a convicted rapist and his girlfriend, both of Greece.
New York State Police and the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office held a news conference on Friday about the investigation into the plot.
Alexander Kise, 21, is accused of plotting from jail to kill an Ontario County judge and prosecutor who presided over his rape conviction, as well as a witness on his rape trial. His girlfriend, 22-year-old Alydia Gater, is accused of meeting with some who she thought was a hired killer in a Victor parking lot in March.
“Unbeknownst to her the person she was meeting was an undercover officer,” said State Police Criminal Investigations Captain Kevin Sucher.
State Police say Gater met the undercover officer and offered $1,750 worth of Xanax as payment to kill the judge. Police arrested Gater after a search warrant at her home on Thursday, and she was taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
Gater and Kise are both charged with first-degree attempted murder, criminal sale of a controlled substance, and conspiracy. State Police say Kise threatened to kill the judge and the prosecutor while in court, in jail, and in conversations with his girlfriend.
Kise was awaiting sentencing for his rape conviction in the Ontario County Jail, for raping, injuring and holding captive a girl he met online. A 16-year-old is also facing charges, not related to Kise or Gater, but rather known to them from the streets.
Troopers say they learned of the alleged conspiracy in March. Last Sunday, Gater met the undercover trooper in a Victor parking lot, paying him more than $1,500 worth of Xanax.
Investigators say a recorded conversation between Kise and Gater revealed the plan was to have the hit man shoot their targets, saying the two shared pictures of the judge and prosecutor.
“This strikes at the heart and is terrifying to the people who do this job on a regular basis,” Ontario County District Attorney James Ritts said.
Kise and Gater will have their preliminary hearings in court next week.
State Police are continuing to investigate the plot and are asking anyone with information to call police at (585) 398-4100.
