Local counties having trouble receiving 911 calls from Verizon Wireless customers
ONTARIO COUNTY, N.Y. — At least two area counties, including Monroe and Ontario, Saturday were having intermittent trouble receiving 911 calls from Verizon Wireless customers. The problem seems to be limited to Verizon Wireless customers only, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and Monroe County.
By 11 p.m. the issue appeared to have been resolved in Ontario County at least, with the Sheriff’s Office reporting that all 911 incoming calls were coming in to the 911 Center normally.
Monroe County says this is happening in several surrounding counties as well.
If anyone in Monroe County has a problem calling 911, they should hang up ad try re-dialing; or text 911 by typing “911” in the “to” field and details of the emergency in the body of the text.
