NEW YORK (WHEC) — The U.S. Department of Transportation announced Thursday that New York will be receiving millions in federal funding to upgrade its current rail infrastructure.
The funding comes from grants for the State of Good Repair Program.
More than $43 million will be used to enhance outdated Amtrak rail lines around the state that in some places are 115 years old.
The New York State Department of Transportation will use a portion of the money to upgrade current infrastructure in New York City including rail stations and tunnels.
