PITTSFORD, N.Y. — Monroe County sheriff’s deputies have released the name of the 45-year-old man from Gates who died in a crash in Pittsford on Sunday afternoon.

Deputies say Patrick McCarthy died at the scene after he was driving west on Fairport Road near I-490, crossed into the eastbound lanes, went through the exit ramp, and hit an embankment between the exit ramp and I-490.

It happened around 4:20 p.m. Deputies are still working to get more details on the cause of the crash. McCarthy was the only person inside the car and no other cars were hit.
