Woman and several puppies rescued from rollover crash in downtown Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — After a rollover crash in downtown Rochester, total strangers came together to help rescue the driver and her puppies trapped in an SUV.

The crash happened next to MLK Park just as News10NBC Chief Investigative Reporter Berkeley Brean drove into work Tuesday morning. He stopped his car and started recording on his cell phone. He captured men and women leaving work and school to care for the driver and her family of dogs.

“I saw the puppy in the intersection and jumped out and stopped traffic and the puppies,” said Anamaria Kelly, who helped care for the puppies.

Rochester Animal Control was seen carrying the dogs away. The driver was awake and crying when she went into the ambulance.

Rochester Police say the early reports show the driver went through a red light at Court and Chestnut Streets, hit another car, and flipped over.
