Decision 2024: Primary results for Rochester City Court, State Assembly, and Congress

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The unofficial results are in for the 2024 primary election. Michael Geraci is leading former mayor Lovely Warren in the race for the Democratic nominee for Rochester City Court judge by 8% of the votes.

That’s one of the anticipated races from Tuesday’s primary. In addition, New York State Assembly Member Demond Meeks is leading against his challenger, Rochester City Council Member Willie Lightfoot, for the Democratic nomination. Meeks spoke after declaring himself the winner in the 13th State Assembly District with his 33% lead.

“I look forward to working with you in the future. I look forward to having a sit-down with you to discuss the things that you believe,” Meeks said.

Just outside of Rochester, for the 24th Congressional District that includes much of the Finger Lakes region, Rep. Claudia Tenney is leading against her challenger, Mario Fratto, for the Republican nomination. Tenney has a 22% lead.

The congressional district includes all of Wayne, Yates, Ontario, Livingston, Wyoming, Genesee, Seneca, and Cayuga counties and parts of other counties. The race is a rematch of the primary two years ago.

The primary is when candidates of the same party run against each other to determine who will be on the ballot for the general election in November. Voters needed to be registered with a party. In Monroe County, only Democrats had a primary this year.

News10NBC is tracking the results from the primary. The voting totals include early voting and absentee ballots. In Monroe County, just over 1,900 people cast their ballots by early voting.
