Penfield fireworks celebration Saturday postponed

PENFIELD, N.Y. — After originally planning to host the parade as normal Saturday morning, the Town of Penfield has canceled the annual parade and postponed Saturday night’s fireworks display.

The town says that’s due to the weather in the area. News10NBC has issued a Yellow Alert for strong storms and rain coming through Rochester and its surrounding areas throughout Saturday.

The parade will not be rescheduled. Instead, the town will put on the fireworks display on Sunday, June 30 at 9:30 p.m. There won’t be any food trucks or entertainment beforehand.

“While I am disappointed that we had to cancel our planned events, the safety of our community is paramount,” said Supervisor Jeff Leenhouts. “I look forward to a great turnout for our fireworks display on Sunday evening at 9:30 p.m.”

Harris Walen Park will open at 8 p.m.
