First Alert Weather: Weather ups and downs expected the next few days

ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — Cloudy skies are expected today with the chance for a passing shower. This is all thanks to an advancing warm front that will warm us up Sunday, but before that we will have to deal with a few passing showers towards the afternoon hours today. Showers will be isolated and a washout is not expected.

The best chance for a few showers will be early this afternoon before we begin to clear this evening. With the cloud cover today we will also be stuck under the cooler side of things with highs likely in the mid and upper 50s, not too bad but we would be much warmer if sunshine was out this afternoon. Clouds will clear tonight with lows in the upper 40s, and then the warm up occurs tomorrow.

Tomorrow afternoon we will see highs near 80 degrees! We will likely fall short of the record high of 83 set back in 1960, but we will be really close. Sunshine with a few clouds are expected throughout the day, but we will watch the chance for a stray afternoon t-storm. This will be determined on if the lake breeze sets up as that will create some lift in the atmosphere. Most, if not all, will remain dry tomorrow but a stray storm will be possible and the best chance for that will be in the Finger Lakes. Enjoy tomorrow the best you can through because cooler and more unsettled weather is on the way this week.

A cold front approaches on Monday with increasing showers in the afternoon. We will remain on the mild side for the majority of the day Monday, but it will be much harder to enjoy that day as showers roll in. Most of Monday morning will be dry, but a better chance for showers arrives in the afternoon before widespread rain in the evening.

Heavy rain is possible, with a few rumbles, during the evening hours and the rain continues into early Tuesday before clearing out. Monday will also feature temperatures in the mid 70s for afternoon highs before dropping near 50 by Tuesday morning. No flooding is expected, but rainfall accumulations will total up between half an inch and one inch of rain, with localized higher amounts possible.
