New York hits seasonal high in flu cases

ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) – After a huge spike last week, the number of new flu cases in New York have started to level off.

The NYS Flu Tracker shows a 5% increase statewide for the week ending April 16, bringing the number of cases to 9,405, which is now the most since flu season began and is higher than any point this year. The previous high was on December 18.

Monroe County continues to be on the higher end, leading all upstate counties by a wide margin with 683 cases, which is up 11% from the prior week.

Flu shots are still available at most local pharmacies.
