First Alert Weather: A few showers, and warming air this weekend

ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — The area of high pressure that brought us beautiful sunshine on Friday will move east tonight.

Meanwhile, a warm front slowly moving closer will bring more clouds to WNY to start the weekend. Saturday will be mostly cloudy with a few showers, especially midday into the early afternoon, as that warm front slowly lifts through. Temperatures will be stubborn at first, holding in the lower 50s until late afternoon. We’ll likely see some sun late once the front is through, which should allow us to briefly pop into the mid and upper 50s. So, while Saturday won’t be perfect, you shouldn’t go canceling any plans.

Sunday is most definitely the weekend winner! It’ll look and feel like summer, with a mostly sunny sky and temperatures soaring through the 70s, with some spots south of the Thruway flirting with 80. The exception to the warmth will be close to Lake Ontario, where a lake breeze will keep temperatures locked in the 50s and 60s.

It’ll all come crashing down next week. Monday will still be mild, with a dry start to the day and highs in the 70s, but an approaching cold front will produce showers by lunchtime and a few thundershowers. Highs then fall into the 50s on Tuesday, and mid-40s by Wednesday and Thursday.
