Yellow Alert Weather: Strong to severe thunderstorms on Monday afternoon

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Looking at the latest conditions and computer guidance, the threat for strong to severe storms is increasing across the Rochester region as we head into Monday afternoon.

For that reason, a Yellow Alert is now up for the entire region. The latest timing brings the storms between 2 to 7 p.m. from west to east. Thunderstorms may bring torrential rain and local flash flooding, small hail and lots of lightning.

One major concern on Monday will be damaging wind gusts that may bring local power outages. The atmosphere is not set-up for tornadoes as it was last week but that doesn’t mean it isn’t impossible, just unlikely.
