Convicted murderer indicted on rape charges after child porn arrest

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The convicted murderer on parole who was charged with production of child pornography last week was indicted by a Monroe County grand jury on more charges Thursday.

Israel Rivera-Reyes, 48, is now charged with rape, criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child.

Child Protective Services informed the Irondequoit Police Department on April 7 that Rivera had sexual contact with a teenager on multiple occasions and sent explicit photos and videos. When police searched the teenager’s phone, they found multiple sexually explicit videos.

Irondequoit Police searched Rivera’s home on April 13, took his phone and arrested him.

Rivera was convicted of intentional second degree murder back in 1995 and sentenced to five years in prison. Prosecutors say he was released on parole in 2006, but his parole was revoked in 2012, 2013, and 2014 before he was re-paroled on March 14, 2019.
