UPDATE: Suspect being sought after Cedarwood Terrace police scene breaks down
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The area around Cedarwood Terrace and Kingston Street has reopened to traffic and a stay-in-place order has been canceled after police surrounded a home where someone was displaying what looked to be a firearm.
Rochester Police officers responded to a home at Cedarwood and Kingston just after 3:30 p.m. after the City Marshall asked for assistance. The Marshall was in the process of completing an eviction when an uninvolved person became argumentative and displayed what appeared to be a gun, police said.. The Marshall relocated to a safe place, and police surrounded the house and tried to make contact with the suspect.
A News10NBC photojournalist saw officers armed with long guns and dozens of police cars on Cedarwood Terrace between Culver Road and Kingston Street. A neighbor told News10NBC she heard screaming from next door around 3:30 p.m., after which police arrived in force. She said she was told to shelter in place, remaining inside.
Eventually, officers determined that he was no longer in the house, and they broke down the scene, police said.
Police said the suspect has been identified and that charges are likely but are still being determined.
