Rochester team will represent the US in World Mixed Curling Championships
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A local Rochester curling team has qualified for the 2022 World Competition and will be representing Team USA in the event.
Team Pulli of the Rochester Curling Club concluded a five-day, round-robin USA Curling Mixed National Championship Tournament on Saturday, winning a gold medal victory against Team Brundidge of Illinois.
Team Pulli’s victory this weekend qualifies them to represent the United States at the 2022 World Mixed Curling Championships to be held next fall.
Saturday’s victory for Team Pulli marks the first time a female skip has led her team to a Gold Medal victory in the history of the US National Mixed Championship event. A "skip" is a term for a captain.
Traditionally playing under the name of their team skip, Team Pulli includes:
• Caitlin Pulli of Brighton – Skip
• Jeff Pulli of Brighton – Vice skip
• Rebecca Andrew of Penfield – Second
• Jason Scott of Chili – Lead
These teammates are active members of the Rochester Curling Club and have been playing together all season through a series of state and regional playdowns, winning the Grand National Curling Club regional mixed championship back in January, in Easton, MD, which clinched their berth in this past weekend’s US National Mixed Championship.
RCC will be concluding its operating season in 2022 by the end of April but will be reopening again in the fall of 2022.
