Boy, 2, has died and twin hospitalized after ‘suspicious incident’ in Hilton

HILTON, N.Y. — A 2-year-old boy was found dead inside his home in Hilton on Monday morning and his twin brother is currently fighting for his life at the hospital.

Monroe County sheriff’s deputies are calling this a “suspicious death” and say it’s a tragedy for all involved.

News10NBC’s crew at the scene saw the home on Parkwood Lane off East Avenue wrapped in police tape. Multiple sheriff’s deputies’ cars were at the scene for hours.

Deputies say the family called about an unresponsive toddler around 5:40 a.m. The parents were home at the time. When first responders got there, they found the boy dead in the bedroom and rushed the other boy to the hospital. Family members and neighbors were outside of the home in tears as investigators looked into the cause of death.

So far, investigators have ruled out carbon monoxide and say they didn’t find any drugs, legal or illegal, in the home. Deputies say they’re continuing to search for the cause and they’re working to give family and friends a space to grieve.
