Appliance causes fire at apartment building on Lake Avenue

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Crews battled a fire on the sixth floor of an apartment building on Lake Avenue not far from Charlotte Beach on Sunday night.
The Rochester Fire Department says an appliance caused the fire and it appears to be accidental. Crews arrived around 7:30 p.m. and worked to provide ventilation throughout the building because of the smoke.
Crews called a second alarm as a precaution. No one was injured in the fire.
