HONEOYE FALLS, N.Y. – New details have emerged in the murder case involving two sisters in Honeoye Falls. Court papers reveal that 62-year-old Penny Busch was strangled by her sister, 53-year-old Jamie Busch, inside Penny’s home.

The documents also detail the evidence Jamie Busch is accused of trying to dispose of. According to the official court document, Jamie took Penny’s three cell phones and dumped them in the garbage can outside the Dunkin Donuts in the village. She then allegedly dumped Penny’s body in the Genesee River.

When asked about the motive, Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter remained tight-lipped during a news conference on Friday.

“The motive is something we’re going to keep close to our chest until the district attorney is ready to release that information but she was murdered,” said Sheriff Baxter.

News10NBC’s Chief Investigative Reporter Berkeley Brean visited the house where family members were cleaning out items. They put up a rope and “Keep Out” signs at the end of the driveway. While Brean was at the edge of the property, a woman came running from the house, pleading for space.

“Sir, please, please give us some space. Please! I’m begging you please! Thank you. I am so sorry,” the woman said.

News10NBC left immediately and went across the street.

Joan Gears, a neighbor who has lived in the area for more than 25 years, expressed shock at the outcome of the case. The neighborhood, which residents refer to as Mayberry due to its low crime rate, feels less insulated now.

The next major date in this case is Thursday when Jamie Busch is scheduled to be back in Mendon Town Court. Typically in Monroe County, the grand jury has already voted to indict a defendant on at least one charge by the time it gets to that hearing.

Cell phone records, search warrants, and video surveillance led deputies to arrest Jamie Busch, who worked at the Honeoye Falls-Lima School District but has been put on leave.
