Imagine RIT to be held in-person and online this year

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — For the first time in two years, the Imagine RIT: Creativity and Innovation Festival is taking place in person.

The event was fully virtual in 2021, and there will be a virtual component to the festival this year in addition to the in-person activities.

More than 250 exhibits from more than 1,800 exhibiting students and faculty are planned this year. Those exhibits include a sustainable portable latrine, a human hamster wheel, and an interactive coral reef.

Dining halls across campus will be open and 16 food trucks will cater the event.

It will be held on Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The school will require all attendees who are older than 5 to be vaccinated. They will have to go to a welcome center when they arrive and show proof of vaccination, either a vaccine card or a photo of it, or New York’s Excelsior Pass or another form of digital proof of vaccination, and photo ID. They will be given a wristband after showing their documents. Masks are optional.

Admission and parking on the Rochester Institute of Technology campus will be free during the event, and there will also be free shuttle buses providing transportation to and from Monroe Community College.
