Two women arrested after police chase of stolen car
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – At 4:45 p.m. on Monday, Rochester Police saw a car that was stolen from South Avenue early Monday morning near 435 Lyell Ave. They tried to pull it over, but the driver drove away heading north on Sherman Street towards Otis Street. The chase went to the city’s east side where the car stopped in the Trinidad parking lot of the Public Market.
Two women from Rochester, ages 18 and 19, were arrested for the car chase and are being investigated for the car theft.
During the chase, a police car was involved in a car crash at the intersection of St. Paul Street and Cumberland Street. Both officers inside the police car were not injured, but one person in the other car had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
