Burglary on Monroe Avenue leads to chase with stolen car and officer injured

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A burglary at a business on Monroe Avenue near I-490 led to a police chase with a stolen car, an officer injured, and two people in custody on Thursday.

Rochester Police responded to the burglary around 5 a.m. and spotted the suspects getting into a car. While trying to catch the driver, an officer was leaning against the car when it sped off. The officer had minor injuries and was treated and released from the hospital.

RPD says the suspects abandoned the car on South Avenue after a short chase. That’s where officers took Abraham Bradford, 38, and a woman in her 40s, into custody.

As a result of the investigation, it was learned that Bradford had allegedly cut the lock off a garage and stole a table saw from the business before trying to run from police. He was taken to the Monroe County Jail.

The car involved was a 2014 Hyundai, that was reported stolen from the Town of Greece. The female passenger was released.

Bradford is charged with assault, burglary, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal mischief, petit larceny, and multiple violations of vehicle and traffic laws. Bradford also has outstanding warrants with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, Greece Police, and the Amherst Police Department.
