HENRIETTA. N.Y. (WHEC) – A serious motor vehicle accident happened in Henrietta Sunday afternoon.

MCSO responded to 1225 Jefferson Road for a motor vehicle accident involving an SUV and a tractor-trailer.

It has been determined that the SUV, operated by a 55-year-old woman from Rochester, attempted to make a left turn onto Jefferson Road from the plaza at 1225 Jefferson Road.

In doing so, the SUV crossed in front of a tractor-trailer that was heading east on Jefferson with the right-of-way.

The tractor-trailer, operated by a 54-year-old man from Rochester, took evasive action, but struck the driver’s side of the SUV, causing it to slide into a telephone before finally coming to a stop.

The driver of the SUV was alone in the vehicle and was found by deputies to be trapped and severely injured.

Henrietta Fire Department extricated the driver from the vehicle and CHS Ambulance Service transported her to Strong Hospital where she is in critical condition.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured as a result of the accident.

The Sheriff’s Office Commercial Vehicle Unit responded to assist with the investigation and it was determined that the operator of the tractor-trailer was acting in accordance with all NYS vehicle and traffic laws.

It is not known at this time why the SUV drove into the path of the tractor-trailer, but the investigation is ongoing. The identities of those involved will not be released at this time.
