Police: 18-year-old suspect injures two officers while attempting to escape arrest in Greece
GREECE, N.Y. – On Thursday at 4:28 p.m., the New York State Police, the Marshals Task Force, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office tried to take a suspect, Dherise M. Dates, into custody.
Police say the 18-year-old from Rochester was getting into a stolen SUV, a 2018 Lincoln MKC, in the parking lot of the Greece Ridge Mall in Greece.
As law enforcement approached Dates, he tried to get away from the parking spot, hitting a New York State Police Investigator and a Monroe County Deputy. The investigator was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for minor injuries, and the deputy was taken to Rochester General Hospital for minor injuries.
While Dates was being pursued, he hit another vehicle. There were no injuries to the driver of that vehicle. After a short foot pursuit, Dates was taken into custody.
