‘It’s really, really sad’: Rochester homeowner speaks out after car crashes into her house
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — First responders helped a family crawl out of a window after a car slammed into the porch of their home on the city’s southwest side.
The car hit the home on Brooks Avenue near Virginia Avenue around 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Rochester Police say none of the residents were hurt and the car was abandoned when officers arrived.
The impact destroyed the porch and part of the roof, along with shifting the house.
Homeowner Isabel Ramirez said that the airbags were deployed and she saw two men running away from the car in different directions. Her fiance chased one man but was not able to catch him.
She said, “It’s really, really sad and upsetting because like I said, I have to figure out where I’m gonna go with my babies because we can’t go in here until this is all fixed.”
Ramirez said they are in limbo right now, waiting for insurance to decide what to do.
RPD says the car was not reported stolen and anyone with information is asked to call 911.
