LIVINGSTON COUNTY, N.Y. — Richard Fluegel Jr., 30, was charged with murder and criminal use of a firearm in Ossian, and tampering with physical evidence in Geneseo after he turned in the body of his father to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office on Monday night.

He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 16 at noon in Ossian and the same day in Geneseo at 9 a.m.

The father, 60-year-old Richard Fluegel Sr., of Irondequoit, went missing on Sunday afternoon. Investigators say his body had gunshot wounds when it was turned in. The son is charged with felony tampering with physical evidence.

The family of the older Fluegel filed a missing person’s report after he left around 2 p.m. on Sunday and never returned. The next day, his car was found in the Village of Dansville but deputies couldn’t find him.

On Monday around 11:40 p.m., the 911 center got a call from someone saying they were in the parking lot of the sheriff’s office and wanted to turn in a body. Deputies eventually identified that body as Fluegel Sr.
