ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Cases of the flu are still rising in Monroe County.

There were 467 new cases last week, up from 352 new cases during the week ending on March 26.

Statewide, weekly case numbers have been growing by about 40% every week. This last week they jumped from 3,896 to 5,494 cases.

This season’s flu numbers are still low compared to the 2018-19 and 2019-20 flu seasons, but unlike those flu seasons, when cases trended downward after spiking during the winter, cases spiked from Centers for Disease Control Week 44 to Week 50, then trended downward, then began to spike again in Centers for Disease Control Week 9.
