New York voters can virtually track their absentee ballots this election season

ALBANY, N.Y (WHEC) — New Yorkers can virtually track the status of their absentee ballot this election season.

The New York State Board of Elections announced on Tuesday that it launched a program allowing voters to track their ballot’s progress through the mail and to confirm that their county’s board of elections received it. The board said the program will help to ensure people that their vote is counted.

The ballot tracker can be accessed online at the state’s existing Voter Registration and Poll Site Search tool. The website will alert voters of any possible defects in the ballot.

Voters can request an absentee ballot on the state’s website or by mailing a request form to their county board of elections. For the June 28 primary election, absentee ballot requests must be completed by June 13.
