First Alert Weather: 1 more nice day Wednesday, then wet weather returns

ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — If you enjoyed Tuesday, you’ll get one more day before our weather turns more unsettled for the second half of the week, and unfortunately, the weekend.

A storm system moving into the Mid-Atlantic will bring wet weather to the big cities to our south, with perhaps a few light showers in the Finger Lakes Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. But the majority of our area will be dry for the majority of the day Wednesday. We may even see some breaks of sun, which will help bump us into the lower half of the 60s once again. Dry weather comes to an end Wednesday night.

An upper level low will swing a band of steadier rain into Western New York and the Northeast by midnight Wednesday night, with some pockets of heavier rain at times into Thursday morning. This steadier rain should move east and taper to scattered showers, but most of our area will pick up anywhere from 0.25" to 0.75" of rain by the end of the day Thursday. There’s the chance a few spots, mainly in the Finger Lakes and central New York may see up to an inch of rain. The main batch of rain exits, but we’ll remain more unsettled with more clouds, a few showers and air temperatures dropping back into the 50s, and 40s by the weekend.

Saturday will likely be the more showery weekend day, with mainly rain showers, with most precipitation ending on Sunday. The timing isn’t great for weekend plans, but warmer and dry weather will return for the start of next week.

This is great timing for the home opener for the Red Wings! At this point, the weather for baseball at Frontier Field next Tuesday should be mild with temperatures in the 60s and dry weather.
