Son of suspect among 2 newly charged in Ontario County murder case
ONTARIO COUNTY, N.Y. —Two new suspects have been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Nordquist.
Thomas Eaves, 21, and Kimberly Socchia, 29, were taken into custody and are now in the county jail and both have been charged with second-degree murder of depraved indifference, indicating a lack of regard for human life.
The Ontario County District Attorney confirmed that Eaves is the son of Precious Arzuaga, who, along with four others, was arrested last week at Patty’s Lodge. All are charged in Nordquist’s murder.
Police discovered Nordquist’s body in a field in Yates County, but the location of the abuse and murder remains undisclosed.
There were two children living at Patty’s Lodge, but it is unclear if they are connected to the suspects. The lodge manager confirmed the children have been removed.
News10NBC went back to Patty’s Lodge and found a picture of Nordquist on room 22, where he was staying. There was also a makeshift memorial for him made up of bears and flowers.
Ontario County DA Jim Ritts said they are not ruling out the possibility of more arrests and that this is still a “very fluid” investigation and are uncovering who did what, why and how everyone came together.
“One of the things we’ve talked about is with motive the more motives you have the weaker some get weaker. That’s part of the phone downloads and everything that we have.”
Ritts said the more they learn about the case, the more gruesome it gets.
“It’s just when you start bringing more people in, you shake your head and think about what this really means and how did it happen without discovery,” said Ritts. “What were people thinking?”
Nordquist’s family is calling this pure evil, remembering him as a person who liked to make people laugh.
