ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) – UPDATE: Rochester Fire Department said they found multiple cars burning next to an auto repair shop when they responded to a three-alarm fire at the shop’s building.

Firefighters had to use six handheld hoses to extinguish the fire and no one was injured. Fire Lieutenant Jeffery Simpson said there have been small fires in the parking lot near the building in the past.

The first alarm sounded at 5:20 a.m. and RFD noticed the fire on the south portion of the building on 1525 North Clinton Avenue, at All City Autoparts. RFD sounded additional alarms because of the size and the contents of the building, which included a junkyard. The fire was contained around 7 a.m. after firefighters requested additional water and ladders.

RPD fought the flames from the outside and said the roof collapsed in one part of the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation and it’s unknown if the fire started inside the auto repair building or outside. No one was in the building.
