HOPEWELL, N.Y. — A 19-year-old died after he was hit by a truck while walking in Hopewell on Tuesday morning.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened just after 6 a.m. around State Route 5 and 20 and Crimson King Drive. The teen, Calif Saunders of Canandaigua, was taken to FF Thompson Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Deputies say the Dodge Ram truck was heading west on State Route 5 and 20 when it hit Saunders. First responders at the scene tried lifesaving measures on Saunders before he was rushed to the hospital.

Deputies are still investigating the crash. The driver was not charged.
