Head-on collision in Canandaigua, one dead

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (WHEC) – Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says that one man is dead following a car accident in Canandaigua.
Deputies responded to the report of a three-car motor vehicle accident at approximately 2:50 p.m. in the area of Route 5 and 20, and Buffalo Street.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that while Lorraine Fodera, 61, was traveling eastbound waiting to turn onto Buffalo Street, Charles McCaig, 86, rear-ended her—sending her car into the other side of the road. At this point, a westbound traveling car operated by James Hanley, 64, hit Fodera’s car.
McCaig was transported to FFThompson Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Hanley and his passenger were taken to FFTH with non-life-threatening injuries. Fodera was treated at the scene.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
