NY and Senecas reach gaming settlement
ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) – The Seneca Nation has finally paid New York State the money it owes for a gaming compact dispute.
Governor Kathy Hochul announced Monday she plans to use most of that money to pay for the new Buffalo Bills stadium. New York and localities will get $564 million from the Senecas. The state itself will get $418 million.
Hochul says since those funds were generated in western New York, that $418 million will go to the new Bills stadium. Under the proposed stadium deal, state taxpayers would foot 600-million dollars of the facility.
The rest of the funds from the Seneca dispute will go to the counties and cities of western New York.
