Gov. Hochul seeks more funding for COVID-19 response
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Governor Kathy Hochul issued a letter on Tuesday to the New York Congressional delegation requesting more funding in New York’s fight against COVID-19.
The letter illustrates the need for more federal funding in COVID-19 preparedness for future variants. The money would ensure adequate testing, vaccine, and booster supply.
This letter coincides with an announcement today from the FDA, which authorizes that Americans 50 and older can get a second COVID-19 booster if it’s been at least four months since their last vaccination.
Monroe County is seeing a spike in COVID-19 cases—reporting 352 new cases today (including 261 home tests). On Monday the county only had 125 cases.
Gov. Hochul writes that "Now is the time to pass robust federal funding so that the nation’s medicine cabinet remains stocked, all of our residents can be boosted, our businesses and schools stay open, and we can move safely forward through this pandemic."
This funding will help New Yorkers continue to move safely forward through the pandemic.
